This clematis is one of the earlier flowering types and it scrambles up a cherry tree which we inherited. I think the cherry which has double pink blooms is Prunus Kanzan although I am not 100% certain. Unfortunately it has not flowered for the last two years. It is situated up the garden with its base level with the roof of the house so it is fairly exposed. The ground is also poor with about an inch of topsoil on solid chalk so it suffers with poor soil and the effects of drought. This could explain the lack of flowers! At least the clematis has done well.

The foxes have been very much in evidence recently. There is one very thin one, probably a vixen and yesterday there was a cub too about the size of a large cat. There is also another second adult fox with a limp that periodically crosses the garden. Our own cat, Holly, sniffs the air suspiciously every time she goes out.
We have also noticed a lot of St Mark's flies this year -they have their legs hanging down as they fly which makes them quite distinctive.
