Eschscholzia californica - hardy annual

I love Californian poppies and have them in the garden every year. Our chalky soil suits them well and they do like the sun. They readily self seed but I also sow seed in modules in the autumn and over-winter them in the greenhouse to plant out around April/May time to flower for several months from May/June onwards. They open up during the day and close up in the evening.
Apparently they will last for 5 days or so as a cut flower - will have to experiment.
