Photinia Red Robin

Photinia x fraseri Red Robin

Photinia provides a good leaf colour in early spring, when all the young leaves are red in colour. I always liked the look of pieris which also has red young leaves but requires moist acid soil so is no good in our very chalky garden.
Photinia is a very common evergreen and is abundant in gardens around here. It is quite tough and grows quite easily, looking attractive catching the sunshine. It does not mind being cut back and of course when it regrows the new leaves are bright red.

The dwarf red and yellow tulips are fully out now.

There are some more tulips in a pot starting to flower. They are the Kaufmanniana type and have very attractive coloured leaves.
