Burnet moth chrysalis


In the long grass at the top of the garden there have been large numbers of yellow, black spotted caterpillars (mentioned in an earlier blog at the beginning of July.) These have then developed into the chrysalis as shown above, which have then hatched out as Burnet moths. The caterpillars feed on bird's-foot-trefoil. Each year we seem to have more and more.
