Euonymus and Ceanothus on the bank

The variegated euonymus 'Emerald n Gold' is a hardy evergreen shrub which adds a bit of winter colour and contrasts with the evergreen ceanothus or Californian lilac which has blue flowers in the spring. They tolerate the generally poor chalky soil at the top of the garden.
