Hampton Court Flower Show- Part Two

Having commented on grasses last week I found we kept coming across them at the flower show- Stipa tenuissima in particular.
Near the main show gardens were some conceptual gardens which are quite arty and quirky. One called The Bright Idea was a representation of a brainwave and had a base with a sea of grasses which were blowing in the wind and looked rather beautiful.

Another interesting one called Excuse me while I kiss the sky had an upside down garden with pots hanging above your head that could be viewed with the mirrors provided. There were agapanthus at ground level which were  popular plants at the show and were in several of the show gardens.

The small gardens were rather good too. Two of my favourites were Heathers in Harmony and The Burgon and Ball Five-A-Day Garden. I believe they both won gold medals.

Heathers in Harmony was arranged over different levels and behind it all was a wall of heathers that looked rather like a green patchwork quilt. They were planted in special trays that are irrigated. It looked most attractive.

The Five-A-Day garden had a great picnic bench with flowers growing up the middle of it. The vegetables were grown in baskets placed up steps and they had some amazing globular cucumbers.
